BRITE Advisory Group

IAN MILLER

Until his retirement in June 2002, Ian Miller was Principal of North Glasgow College. Prior to that, he was Depute Principal at Stevenson College. His commitment to students with additional support needs is evidenced by his involvement with the following organisations: as Chair of Skill Scotland, as a member of the Beattie Committee, a member of the Inclusiveness Strategy Group and as a Board Member of Glasgow North Social Inclusion partnership.

Despite his retirement from Further Education, Ian has kindly agreed to take on the role of Chairman of the BRITE Advisory Group.


 

ANDREW LAWSON

Andrew Lawson is Associate Principal - Access and Student Services at Forth Valley College of Further & Higher Education. With responsibility for student guidance, information and support services including extended learning support, the coordination and delivery of service to community learners and site responsibility for the Falkirk campus including community planning.

He joined the college as a Senior Lecturer in Supported Learning before moving on two years later as Head of School for Continuing Education.
Andrew has worked in this area for approximately 20 years and previously worked with Falkirk Council Community Education Service and Development Officer for Adult Education. He also ran a small Creative Arts business working with children and young people with additional support needs.



HUGH LOGAN

Hugh graduated from Edinburgh University with a Batchelor of Commerce. After a short period of employment with soft drinks manufacturer AG Barr, he embarked upon a career in education. Hugh moved into the field of secondary teaching and then into the further education sector, fulfilling appointments in the South of England, Ayrshire and the Scottish Borders. He commenced employment at The North Highland College in 1994 as a College Manager and was appointed as the Principal of The North Highland College in February 2000. During his time at North Highland College, they developed the ground-breaking award winning “Jobs 4 All” employment initiative for special needs students.

Hugh took up the post of Principal and Chief Executive of Motherwell College in May 2004.
