The programme has been designed for education and training practitioners who are actively involved in the support of learners. Whether you are a lecturer, an adviser, an educational support worker or a trainer, this programme aims to introduce you to the concept of developing inclusive teaching and support strategies for learners through the effective use of enabling and assistive technologies and non-technological approaches.
To get the most from the programme, participants need to:
- have a regular role in the support of students within the college and/or the management of that support.
- be involved in taking forward the ‘inclusiveness agenda’ within the college and receive the support of an appropriate senior manager.
- have a sound understanding of the teaching process - preferably holding a TQ(FE), or be working towards it - and a good knowledge of at least one subject area within the college’s curriculum.
- have an interest, though not necessarily pre-existing expertise, in ICT and enabling technologies.
- have convenient access to a PC with internet connection and email capability.
- be given adequate time to participate fully in the face-to-face training for units 1-3 (equivalent of 6 ‘taught’ days in total) and, for participants seeking accreditation, a further 4 ‘taught’ days plus an element of observed practice and two written assignments for unit 4.
