Upper Leg

  1. With the subject's leg flexed at 90 degrees, locate the midpoint between the crest of the iliac and the tip of the knee.
This is a picture showing how to find midpoint of the upper leg, where the circumference is taken.

  1. With the leg extended and tightened, it is around this midpoint that the girth is taken.
This is a picture of a peron getting their upper leg circumference taken.

  1. When measuring do not wrap the tape too tightly, apply enough pressure that there is a slight indentation in the muscle. The measurement is taken in centimetres.
  1. Measure and record the circumference of both legs.
